Yarn Color Choices

Your custom design hand knitted sweater will be knitted just for you from a top quality mid-weight cotton yarn. Mid-weight cotton yarn makes a hand knitted sweater which is wearable year-round (not thin and sheer, like a summer sweater, or chunky and heavy, like a winter sweater, but comfortable to wear over a teeshirt or on its own, year-round). This outstanding cotton yarn makes a smooth, durable and long lasting knitted fabric which stands up to years of machine washing and drying. Look below to view the wide range of colors available for your custom design sweater. There are 49 different shades to choose from, so there is sure to be something to please everyone!

But wait - aren't there more colors than 49?

Well, yes, as a matter of fact, there are. In addition, there are other colors (a total of 141 colors in all), such as cactus, chamois, ginger and no less than five different shades of navy blue, which are not shown below. I have found that sometimes customers are a little overwhelmed by all of the choices, so I've decided only to show those colors which are most popular.

If you are looking for something specific, feel free to ask, and I will do my best to find just the right color for you. I have photographs of the color cards, so if you would like to see, for instance, all five shades of navy blue, I can send you the photo. All you have to do is ask.

Some of my repeat customers prefer to have their own set of color cards. This is by far the best way to choose the colors for your design. You can take the color cards right into your closet and hold them up to your shirts, jackets, pants, etc. Compare the yarn colors to the garments in your wardrobe, and select just the right shades for your new sweater, hat or scarf.

The full set of color cards, showing all 141 colors, costs $18.00 plus shipping/handling, and will be sent directly to you from the yarn manufacturer, usually within a few days.

Please note that computer monitors vary widely in their ability to accurately show colors; if an exact shade is important to you, I will be happy to send you a sample, provided that it is in stock in my studio at the time. This is also a good way to see the quality and weight of this excellent cotton yarn.

Does this cotton yarn shrink? Yes, it does. Anyone who tells you that cotton sweaters don't shrink is misleading you. The sweaters are generously sized to allow for shrinkage when washed and dried. Laundering instructions will come with the sweater. If you are planning on dry cleaning the sweater, please tell me when you place your order, and I will knit the sweater to your exact size dimensions.

From left to right: black; natural; pure white; flaxon (a light wheat-colored shade of beige); and, lying down in front, natural ivory.

Natural ivory is a "natural" cotton, with tiny flecks of unbleached cotton fibers. It is very popular for casual sweaters and looks so nice when worn with khakis or jeans. Natural ivory is lighter than the color "natural", which is shown next to black in the back row.
